Privacy and analytics

What loads

This notebook is a static site. The pages, navigation, search and the files each page needs all work without an analytics account. Google Analytics 4 and Ahrefs Web Analytics are optional. I use Google Analytics to see which pages people read and which outbound links they follow, and Ahrefs to count page visits.

Consent before measurement

Until you make a choice, the site loads no measurement script and sets no analytics cookie. A small prompt asks whether you want to allow analytics. “Allow analytics” saves that one preference in your browser’s local storage, then loads the measurement script. “Decline” saves the opposite preference, and analytics stay off.

What is sent if you allow analytics

The site sends page and interaction events such as page views, section views, navigation clicks, template downloads and the outbound links you follow. It does not send what you type into search or a form. The site configuration turns off Google advertising signals and ad personalisation.

Ahrefs receives the page’s canonical address and title, without URL parameters, fragments or referral details. Its script runs separately from this page, so it cannot read search entries, links or forms. Ahrefs uses no analytics cookies; its reports include browser, language and approximate location statistics. The site respects Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track for Ahrefs. Change your choice

You can change your choice here at any time. If you decline after allowing, measurement stops from that moment and the site removes its analytics cookies from your browser. Declining does not delete data the site has already sent. You can also use your browser’s privacy controls or block third-party scripts, and the site still works.
